48″x48″
Oil & cold wax
Jan 30, 2024: Beginning again. Starting this 48×48 piece with my favorite warm glow.
Feb 4, 2024: Deepening the colors on day 2 of this WIP.
Feb 5, 2024: Listening to Colin Hay got me over the hump today. Diving head first, past those familiar first steps, and into the Unknown. Now I can finally begin…
Feb 7: Working in some bright opaque colors to mitigate the mud. And now this piece is entering into quite the ugly stage.
Feb 8, 2024: Introducing text that will eventually become the title of this piece.
Feb 9, 2024: The piece is now unforgivably ugly! The blue & orange vibrate, making it very hard to look at.
Feb 10: Had to get rid of that electric blue, so I darkened and lightened it, in equal measure.
Feb 14, 2024: Swinging the piece all the way over to the light today.
Feb 26, 2024: After some time away, I’m returning to this piece with fresh eyes. Spent the day quieting some of the busy-ness by swinging the piece back towards the dark.
Feb 27, 2024: I love the balance of lights and darks in this piece, but something’s nagging at me. It doesn’t feel resolved.
Feb 28, 2024: Just added some shadows to the foggy blues, and suddenly, this piece feels resolved. Breathing deeper and easier looking at this piece.
